He has also written for theatre including the music to the series of monologues 'Survisorship' aswell as several childrens theatre productions.
In 2008 Phil created his own crossover-classical-pop ensemble Fordante. The critically acclaimed, award winning 'mini-orchestra' can often be seen performing his unique film and classical inspired music alongside popular film scores. Fordante performs much of Mountford's accessible classical music and cites musical influences such as Karl Jenkins, Rondo Veneziano, Einaudi together with contemporary film composers. Supported by the UK Arts Council on two of their concert tours the five piece Fordante (oboe, violin, viola, cello, piano) thrill and mesmerize with their worldy, picture forming, film inspired music and unique style and due to their easy listening approach have enchanted many audiences including those who are less likely to listen to classical music.
